Project details

Project Overview

In a South Yarra heritage-listed mansion, the roof and box gutters were showing signs of age. Rust was only just beginning to appear on the valleys and capping, but the structure was still sound.

Rather than quoting for a full (and costly) replacement, Trevor recommended a thoughtful repair strategy: waterproofing the box gutters, treating the lightly rusted metal valleys, and resealing the capping.

The result: a roof that will last many more years, at a fraction of the cost of replacement — and with its heritage character fully preserved.

Why It Matters

  • Heritage care, not over-capitalisation — Trevor understood what needed doing and what didn’t.
  • Cost-effective — the homeowners avoided unnecessary work and expense.
  • Preservation-first — the original slate and detailing remain intact, as they should in a heritage property.
  • Trust through honesty — clients see that Trevor recommends what’s right, not what’s most profitable.

Client Outcome

The homeowners gained peace of mind knowing their roof is protected, their home’s character preserved, and their money spent wisely.
